Erza Scarlet: Blackwing Armor

A cosplay of the character Erza Scarlet, from the show Fairy Tail. The outfit pictured is her Blackwing Armor, featuring large moveable wings, shoulder and hip armor, and long red hair.

The armor adopts an unconventional crafting method. Instead of using foam or Worbla, the pieces are made from a thick wire frame, covered with metal screening, and then covered in fabric. This method, though unusual, provides several benefits. The armor is flexible, and extremely lightweight.

This project was an experiment on many levels, and allowed me to explore different techniques that I had little or no experience in. I had never tried this type of armor, nor any woodworking of any kind.
