Bon Voyage!
11/18/22
You may have noticed that our shop is currently closed. That is due to our head craftsperson (me) embarking on one of my many employment trips. If you weren't aware, I work for Royal Caribbean international, stitching costumes on their cruise ships around the world. I leave today to travel on one of their ships for about a month, so you have an idea of how long our shop will be closed. In due time, I hope to not close our shop while I am out on these expeditions, but alas, this business is not that evolved at this point in time.

When I return, I will continue shaping this website and company to account for such breaks in my craft time.

Thank you for understanding!
My Story
I have been sewing all my life, and only recently have I begun to add other crafts to my tool kit. I majored in Costume Technology at Wright State University and graduated spring of 2022 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. I practiced my craft both in and out of school, ranging from university theatre productions, to personal projects simply for the fun of it. From cosplays, to renaissance faire outfits to every day garments, I strived every day to create something new.

My up and coming strengths in leatherwork are entirely due to a class I took in university. Taught by the incredible John Lavarnway, I adopted this craft head on. I bought tools and leather and watched hundreds of hours of YouTube tutorials. Since most of my classes were online at the time, I had excess time and flexibility. Although overall a disaster for the world, the COVID-19 pandemic provided me with a lot of opportunities. I was allowed to use a private space at school to work, and got essentially free reign to create whatever I wanted. This helped me immensely. I cannot thank both the circumstances and my amazing professors enough for allowing me this privilege.

Currently, I am employed by Royal Caribbean International, a cruise line that allows me to travel all around the world working on my skill set. My job is in the theatres, altering and repairing costumes for new cast members to wear. We have the standard proscenium stage productions, but also incredible aqua and ice shows as well. Working with different materials and situations has made me versatile in many different aspects. I hope to continue my journey while still having time for Kowalski Armor & Apparel!
